I had two main responsibilities as the maid-of-honor in my sister’s wedding – throwing the bridal shower and making a toast at the wedding. My sister has been a fan of Audrey Hepburn since she saw the movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s so I chose that as the theme of her bridal shower. Here a few photos taken by my good friend, Denise Collier, who was the official photographer. Thanks, Denise, I love the photos!

Justin+Tiff

Over Labor Day weekend, we attended Justin+Tiff’s beautiful wedding at Tehama in Carmel. It was perfect in every way, from the flowers to the food to the music to the stunning dresses. The highlight for me was Justin and Tiff singing and dancing their first dance together…such a unique touch! Congratulations to one of my favorite couples!

After visiting venues in Southern California and Carmel/Monterey, Teresa and Doug have chosen possibly the most beautiful wedding venue in Northern California. In a secret location in the Santa Cruz mountains, Nestldown is absolutely charming in its natural beauty.

We weren’t the only ones who found this to be an enchanted place. Bunnies hopped around the lush garden without a care.

A bench covered in moss looks like it’s straight out of an Irish legend.

The barn is a lovely place for a sit-down dinner or for dancing the night away.

The fantasy cottage looks like something Hugh Comstock might have built in Carmel, but it’s small size (even those of us who are a bit vertically-challenged have to stoop down) hints that it’s original owners might have been garden gnomes or tree elves.

My little sister, Teresa, and her boyfriend of six years, Doug, got engaged yesterday. Doug re-created their first hiking experience in Tahoe (except with snow this time), complete with the Fluffy Puppies, and proposed with this beautiful sapphire ring. He even remembered her distaste for blood diamonds and got her a socially-conscious ring from Brilliant Earth in Union Square.

To celebrate, we gathered at my parents’ house and toasted the good news with a bottle of champagne.

We are all so excited for them, and Doug’s sister and I are already plotting to take over their wedding planning and book an Italian villa or a French chateau for the big day. We’ll let them know where to show up. I’ve already insisted on a fabulous wedding photographer and I’m hoping for Sarah Yates or Jose Villa. Expect many more wedding-related posts in the future…

Congratulations Diego & Suzanne!

This Saturday night, Diego Cremona and Suzanne Sickel became husband and wife at the Menlo Circus Polo Club. It was a beautiful, beautiful ceremony and probably the most fun wedding I’ve ever been to. So fun, in fact, that I didn’t even pull out the big camera to hide behind and take photos. Unfortunately, this means that I only got a few snapshots with a point-and-shoot.

From the moment we walked in (late), we were transported into the world of their love, with gorgeous bouquets of roses and orchids, a ceremony with quotes from Buddha, the classics played by the string quartet during the ceremony and the cocktail hour, and the loving and funny speeches given by Suzanne’s dad and Diego’s brother. I loved everything about their wedding – the photobooth where guests could take pictures and then write a note to the happy couple, the delicious menu including a cheese course (yum!), the wine and champagne, and the perfect wedding band. When Diego gets back from his honeymoon in Hawaii, I’m going to tackle him for the name of this band. They were incredible and I (yes I!) danced.

Over Labor Day weekend, we headed out to D.C. to catch up with some of Andrew’s old friends and to attend Matt and Lilia’s wedding. Their wedding took place an hour outside of D.C. in Hume, Virginia on the JW Marriott ranch. It was a beautiful location and we had a great time meeting their friends and family, drinking fantastic wine and dancing to the fun band Souled Out.
