My little sister, Teresa, and her boyfriend of six years, Doug, got engaged yesterday. Doug re-created their first hiking experience in Tahoe (except with snow this time), complete with the Fluffy Puppies, and proposed with this beautiful sapphire ring. He even remembered her distaste for blood diamonds and got her a socially-conscious ring from Brilliant Earth in Union Square.
To celebrate, we gathered at my parents’ house and toasted the good news with a bottle of champagne.
We are all so excited for them, and Doug’s sister and I are already plotting to take over their wedding planning and book an Italian villa or a French chateau for the big day. We’ll let them know where to show up. I’ve already insisted on a fabulous wedding photographer and I’m hoping for Sarah Yates or Jose Villa. Expect many more wedding-related posts in the future…
